Live webinar: AI in OT security – how KRITIS operators can respond to faster exploits

Live webinar on AI in OT security

Artificial intelligence is accelerating cybersecurity on both sides: defenders can detect risks more quickly, whilst attackers gain new opportunities to identify and exploit vulnerabilities. In a joint live webinar, Andreas Krüger from Laokoon Security and Leon Staufer from TXOne Networks will use specific scenarios and a case study to demonstrate how this is changing the dynamics between exploits, mitigation and patches.

When the exploit appears faster than the next patch

In traditional IT environments, critical security updates can often be tested and deployed at short notice. In Operational Technology, however, the circumstances are different: systems have long lifecycles, maintenance windows are limited, and updates can often only be installed at longer intervals.

At the same time, AI can speed up the analysis of vulnerabilities and the development of exploits. This therefore raises a key question for operators of critical infrastructure:

How can OT systems How can we protect ourselves when exploits emerge faster than the next scheduled maintenance cycle?

How AI is transforming OT security

In the webinar, Andreas Krüger and Leon Staufer examine the impact of artificial intelligence on the speed at which attackers develop exploits, and what implications this has, in particular, for critical infrastructure such as energy suppliers and the role of cybersecurity experts.

Taking the current approach to managing vulnerabilities as a starting point, this presentation uses specific scenarios and a case study to demonstrate how AI accelerates the actions of both attackers and defenders, and what new dynamics this creates between exploitation, mitigation and patching.

The focus is on how plant operators can cope with the rapidly increasing pace at which vulnerabilities will be identified and exploited in the future – particularly in plants where traditional updates are only possible at long maintenance intervals.

During the live webinar, the speakers will discuss the following approaches:

  • automated asset and risk identification
  • Micro-segmentation
  • Virtual Patching
  • Endpoint Protection
  • future automation of protective measures

What you’ll take away from the webinar

After the webinar, you will be better able to understand,

  • how AI is accelerating the development and exploitation of exploits.
  • why traditional patch cycles are coming under increasing pressure in critical systems.
  • the role played by asset and risk identification, micro-segmentation, virtual patching and endpoint protection.
  • how protective measures can be automated to a greater extent in future.
